The continental Congress embraced the articles of Confederation, the first constitution that the united States, top top November 15, 1777. However, ratification of the short articles of Confederation by every thirteen states did not happen until march 1, 1781. The articles created a loose confederation of can be fried states and a weak main government, leaving most of the power v the state governments. The need for a stronger Federal federal government soon came to be apparent and also eventually led to the constitution Convention in 1787. The existing United says Constitution changed the posts of Confederation on march 4, 1789.
