I am at this time teaching myself german (I am in the an extremely early stages) and I have wondered something around the name Der Riese, it’s expected to median The huge in English, however shouldn’t that be Das Riese, since “das” method “the”, if I analyze “der” it way “of the”, so i will not ~ the translate in of Der Riese it is in Of The Giant. I m really sorry if the comes throughout as stupid, but I just wondered if there to be a factor for this, because I i think I’m absent something and it’s not Treyarch making a mistake.

"Riese" is masculine in german, it is why its identified with a "Der". For every feminine noun you specify with a "Die" and all genderless you specify with a "Das"

Examples: die Frau (The woman) Der Mann (The man) Das Auto (The car)

FYI, you i do not know guess which noun in german is masculine, feminine or genderless without discovering it - except for the noticeable ones such together woman, man, grandmother.... Etc.

"Der" can be likewise have a different meaning, depending upon the context.

Example: "Der Mann, der...." Translation:" The man, who..."

Fun fact: "Die Riesin" would be a female giant. :-)

In the German language, noun have different "Genders".

Masculine, Feminine, and Neutrum.

"Der" (masculine), "Die" (feminine) and also "Das" (neutrum) all interpret to "the" in english.

"Riese" is a mrs noun, for this reason it has "Der" before it. If it to be a Feminine noun, that would have "Die" prior to it. Neutrum, it would have actually "Das" before it.

Here space some examples:

Masculine: "Der" Wagen (The Car)

Feminine: "Die" Straße (The Street)

Neutrum: "Das" sort (The Child)

That's just how I remember learning it in school, ns am German btw.
